Story: Trained under the to-be Third Hokage. His teamates were Orochimaru and Tsunade, the other two Legendary Sannin. He was the weakest of the group at first, but quickly grew to their level.

As a jounin, he trained the to-be Fourth Hokage. His student made up a new move, Rasengan, which he later taught to Jiraiya. He attemped to add another element to it, but was not able to succeed before the incident with the Kyubbi. Soon after, Jiraiya left the villlage to track Orochimaru and keep records.

After 10 years, he returned to Konoha. He met Naruto and trained him. Then, Orochimaru killed the Third, and he went to search for Tsunade. After their encounter with Akatsuki, he taught Naruto Rasengan for protection. Not too long after, Sasuke left the village, and Naruto was brought back on the brink of death. He offered to train him, then they set off.

They returned three years later, and Jiraya handed the responsibility of Naruto back to Kakashi. After briefing him on Naruto's new abilities with the Kyubbi, and the potential danger, he set off, and that was the last time anyone really saw him.
